Obituary of Robert J. Cindrick

Robert J. Cindrick of Lewiston N.Y. formerly of Niagara Falls N.Y. died at home August 5, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Cindrick was born December 5, 1933 in Niagara Falls N.Y. to the late Anthony and Mary (Abramovich) Cindrick. Mr. Cindrick attended Niagara Street School, Gaskill Junior High School, and Niagara Falls High School graduating in 1952. During the years 1952 thru 1954, he attended Niagara University. Mr. Cindrick served with the United States Army from 1955-1956 as a specialist second class with the 7th Infantry Division in Korea. Mr. Cindrick was honorably discharged in 1956. During the 1950’s Robert played baseball for The Welch Post American Legion, Niagara Falls High School that won the 1952 sectionals, Dick Fischer's, Vanadium, UHL Hall & Rich, Mathieson in the double eye league and center field for Niagara University. Robert also played softball for Marine Trust and UHL Hall & Rich. On October 27, 2007, Robert was inducted into the Niagara Falls Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame. In 1957 Robert was employed by Marine Trust (Lewiston Branch). During the years 1957-1961, he was employed by UHL Hall & Rich. In 1961 Robert was employed at the New York Power Authority as Manager of Finance & Administration retiring from there in 1993. During the years 1975-1978, Robert served as a Village of Lewiston Trustee. Mr. Cindrick served as President of Lewiston #1 Volunteer Fire Company during the years of 1976-1978 and 1979-1981. Robert also served as President of the Lewiston #1 Volunteer Exempt & Benevolent Association. Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge #584, National Rifle Association, and Lewiston #1 Volunteer Exempt & Benevolent Association. Robert enjoyed and was an avid fisherman & hunter. Robert's biggest joy was his children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Robert is survived by Irene his wife of 64 years, his son Scott (Cyndy) of Lewiston, his two daughters; Karen (James) Snyder of Ransomville and, Lisa (Greg) Kyle of St. Catharines Ont. Three grandchildren; Nicole (Zach) Collister of Lewiston NY, Robert Moon of Buffalo NY, and, Danielle (Matt) Waz of Youngstown NY, three great-grandchildren; Julianna Waz, Cameron Waz, and, Lawson Collister. Robert is also survived by his brother, Ronald Cindrick of Palm City FL, his niece Jennifer Mathis and, his nephew's Christopher & Mark Cindrick. A very special thank you goes to Robert’s "third daughter”, Michelle. Michelle treated & cared for Robert as if he were her own father. Robert loved Michelle & you could see the love from her as well. Michelle became part of the Cindrick family & has been a godsent to us all. At Robert's request, there will be a small service for immediate family members only.
