Obituary of Arthur A. Cline

Arthur Cline age 97 of Lewiston, NY. was born March 26, 1924 in Taylorsville, NC, to Arthur Cleveland Cline and Bertie Austin Cline. He graduated from Taylorsville HS in 1942 and entered North Carolina State College in the fall of 1942 to study engineering. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in December of 1942. He served as a flight instructor prior to training as a flight engineer on the B-29. The war ended just a few weeks before he was scheduled to go overseas.
Arthur remained in the AF Reserves, retiring as a major after 19 years. Upon completion of active duty at the end of the war he resumed his studies at NC State and graduated with honors in 1949 as a Chemical Engineer.
He married Harriet E. Knight in the First Baptist Church of Raleigh on June 24, 1250. He worked for Spencer Kellogg & Sons in Buffalo, NY and in Chicago, IL. He began work with Great Lakes Carbon in Morganton, NC in 1952, later transferring to Niagara Falls, NY, retiring in 1983, after 31 years.
He was an active member of the UB-CC church, serving as deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, and secretary treasurer. He also enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Retiree Activities office at the air base since 1990 and in the local American Legion post. He also enjoyed gardening, reading, and tinkering in the basement.
He is survived by Harriet his wife of 71 years, son Kenneth (Late Sharon) of Lewiston, daughters Jane (David) Clark of Albuquerque, , and Susan (Thomas) Puff of Rochester, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters, Sue C. Teague and Jean C. Teague.
Friends and family may call on Saturday August 7th from 10-11 AM at the United Baptist Christian Church 4800 Creek Rd. Lewiston. Funeral Services will take place immediately following at 11:00 AM.
