Obituary of Lloyd F. Ferguson

Lloyd F. Ferguson, age 86 of Ransomville, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 17, 2010 with his loving family by his side. Lloyd was born June 15, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Clarence and Clara (Sheldon) Ferguson. He was raised in Niagara Falls and in 1942 he graduated from Trott Vocational High School with a certificate in welding. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1946. Lloyd served in the Pacific and Atlantic Theatres aboard the USS Mattore, a heavy cruiser, and the USS Pensacola, an oiler. On April 15, 1948 he married the love of his life Audrey Nugent and they were married for 52 years until her passing in May of 2000. Lloyd worked for many years as the New York State Power Authority as a journeyman mechanic, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Ransomville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 45 years. He was also a member of the O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Post # 830 in Ransomville. Lloyd was an avid golfer and bowler. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Lloyd was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Thomas) Parker and Virginia Barlow (Steve Hendricks) both of Ransomville; four grandsons, Elton (Elizabeth) Parker of Memphis, TN, Matthew (Jessica) Parker, Glenn (Michelle) Barlow, and Joel Barlow all of Ransomville; five great grandchildren, Thomas, Tyler, Hugh, and Gillian Parker, and Hayden Barlow; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Murel, and Levi Ferguson. , A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 22, at 11:00 AM in the Ransomville Baptist Church, Youngstown-Lockport Rd., Ransomville, with the Rev. Richard D. Gorrow, Jr. officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ransomville Baptist Church, PO Box 96, Ransomville, NY 14131.
