Brian Phillips posted a condolence
Wednesday, July 28, 2021
Hello everyone reading! I’m Brian. I was Jens’ roommate located in Cheektowaga. I’d like to express my condolences to the family and other friends and DND friends on her sudden passing. Jen had a short length illness over a month and a half.
In case anyone would like the story on her passing and if the family chooses to have this on here: Jen seemed to be in good health in the beginning of June 2021. It wasn’t until about the beginning to middle of June she began to have a simple cough. She asked me to grab some over the counter cough medicine at the store (as I work at a grocery store) and so I did. That didn’t seem to help so Jen took herself in to get checked out I believe the 16th or 17th. Turned out she contracted pneumonia. She came back that night and she asked me to grab her meds from across the street because she felt weak and was on crutches herself. I retrieved her meds and hoping these 3 medicines would work - a week later I was awoken by her coughing at about 1am in the morning. I messaged her from across the hall and asked if the meds she was on and given were even working because she should not have been coughing so roughly and consistent as she was. Her body was just not giving her a second test with coughing. She was coughing up blood and phlegm. I asked if she felt the need for me to call for help and she yes. So I called 911 for her immediately. She was weak. She could not stand. She was sitting on the floor in the hallway - still alert and conscious - just weak and couldn’t stand really. Maybe some feeling of pressure and chest exhaustion from her coughing as I should expect. So the three EMT individuals did take her that night. This night was on June 24th - a week after she got her pneumonia meds (2 antibiotics and a higher dose of ibuprofen 500mg). Since the night the EMT’s came and took Jen to the hospital she had been in the hospital ever since. She never made it back home. She originally went to St Joseph’s. Then she was transferred another 3 times. At Joseph’s to Sisters to Mercy and lastly to Strong Memorial in Rochester. Her family kept in touch with me and it appeared her body was trying hard to fight. An official diagnosis of her illness was vasculitis. Initially as I’ve said her body was trying to fight that disease. She did seem to be responsive and appeared to be fighting it. But she was still sedated in order for her body to try and fight it off. All in all her vasculitis just took over her entire body and began shutting her body down. On Sunday July 25th her body took a turn for the worst and couldn’t fight anymore. She was taken off life support and passed peacefully within 10 minutes after.
May she Rest In Peace. Forever will she be in the hearts of those who loved and knew her.
