Obituary of John C. Roberts

John C. Roberts, age 92, of Youngstown died Saturday, June 5, 2021, at home in Youngstown. John was born December 14, 1928, in Buffalo, NY. He is the son of the late David A. and the late Isabel H. (Gofrey) Roberts. John graduated from high school, then NYS Technical Institute in Metallurgy, also Erie Community College. John served in the U.S Navy from 1949 to 1953. He retired from Strate Welding where he was a welder for 50 years retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Lake Ontario VFW Post 313 in Youngstown, he enjoyed working out and staying fit, was an active gardener and outdoorsman, john was very fond of his co-workers and was enormously proud of his past military service. John was a lifetime member of the American Society for Metals. He is survived by his wife; Judith Alt- Roberts and his son Michael (Christine Iacovitti) Roberts. John is predeceased in 2007 by his first wife Dorothy Roberts. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, June 18th, 2021, at Acacia Park Cemetery, 4215 N. Tonawanda Creek Rd., North Tonawanda, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audobon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228.
