Obituary of Andrew D. Bemis

Andrew (Andy) D. Bemis passed away peacefully at home on May 22nd, 2021. He leaves behind his cherished fiancée and long-time companion Lucinda (Cindy) Hutton who inspired him to be his very best self, his mother Nancy C. Bemis of Florida, his older sister Juliette Occhipinti and her husband Dennis of North Carolina and his twin sister Penelope Bemis of Arizona. He is also survived by 4 nephews, Matthew Smith and his wife Eileen, Andrew Egger and his fiancée Krystal Hernandez all of Massachusetts, Adam Smith of Florida and Theo Bemis-Garb of Arizona; three grandnieces; Lauren, Katie and Kristen Smith and a grand nephew, Thomas Smith, all of Massachusetts as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Bemis and his sister, Polly Bemis. Andy was a beloved fiancé, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and a true friend. Everyone should have an uncle like Andy. He could be the fun uncle, the serious uncle, the so-proud-of you uncle but never the uncle you couldn’t talk to. He taught his older nephews how to drive a car, ride a motorcycle and shoot a gun before they were teenagers and brilliantly taught his younger nephew how to ride a bike when all other attempts were unsuccessful. Andy loved playing his guitar, hunting, fishing, skiing, birdwatching and all things outdoors. He was an expert gardener, carpenter, and all-round handyman. He could play volleyball, horseshoes and cards with the best. Andy was always willing to help anyone who needed him. He had a heart of gold. He will be sorely missed. A celebration of his life will be held on July 10th at the home he shared with Lucinda.
