Obituary of Charles Rodney Cutler Sr.

Charles Rodney Cutler, Sr., age 94, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021. He was born in Town of Porter, New York on March 4, 1927 to the late George John Cutler and Nancibelle Orcutt Cutler. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Chichester and second wife Bonnie Lester; step-children Susan Speziale and David Smith and siblings George Cutler, Myra Hughes, Ardith Davidson, Betty Smith, Nancy Johnson, Jeanette Smith and Theresa McDonald. Charles attended schools in Town of Porter until his junior year and then he joined the United States Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Damon M. Cummins, U.S.S. Warrick, U.S.S. PCE 882 and U.S.S. Perry. He received many commendations for his service. He was retired from Bell Aerospace Textron in Wheatfield, New York where he worked many years as an instrumentation technician. Mr. Cutler is survived by sons Charles R. Cutler, Jr. of Sanford and Clayton J. Cutler and wife Virginia of Lewiston, New York; Stepchildren Fred Smith and wife, Julie of Lewiston, New York, Rick Smith and wife, Theresa of Holiday, Florida and Sharon Kochan of of Lewiston, New York; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Hardison's Funeral Home N. Fourth and Ridge Sts. Lewiston, NY with Rev. Matthew Kofahl officiating.
