James D. Smith, 86, of Lewiston, husband of Gail Quarantillo Smith entered into rest on Saturday April 3, 2021 at home. Born on September 01, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY to his late parents Sydney and Ethel Willis Smith. Jim served in the U.S Marine Corp. from 1953 to 1956 serving in Japan, he married Gail Quarantillo on March 02, 1957. He was a lineman for Verizon for over 30 years retiring in 1995. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling with his wife to Mexico. His favorite place in the morning was the Villa Coffee Shop. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 584 and was one of Lewiston’s finest citizens. Special thank you to Niagara Hospice especially nurse “Jodie”. Surviving is his wife Gail; a daughter Vicki White (Mark Cheers); his sisters Nancy Ladouceur and Debbie Krysa, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his best friend and son Daniel “Danny” Smith and a sister Kathryn Robare. Jim donated his body to U.B Medical School. No services will be held at this time. Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
