Robert E. Laurie, age 84 of Lewiston, husband of late Shirley Ann Laurie entered into rest on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Born September 9, 1936, in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada, he is the son of the late Albert A. and late Catherine (Wilson) Laurie. He married Shirley Ann Sarginson on September 30, 1961 in Canada. High-school sweethearts, they were always together up until her death on January 20, 2020.
Robert immigrated to the United States and served his new country in the US Army from 1959-1962, receiving the distinctions of Marksman, Sharpshooter and Good Conduct Medal, after which he began his career as a Chemist with DuPont. He later worked as the Superintendent of the Aluminum Oxide Powders Department and the Powders Laboratory at Washington Mills and Carborundum Company. Bob is described by those whom he supervised as a smart and friendly superintendent with a good sense of humor. He had a wealth of knowledge on the products and served as a good mentor to many employees. He began his retirement years in 1991, continuing to reside in Lewiston NY with the love of his life, his wife Shirley.
Surviving are his sister, Dorothy (late Vincent) Chiaravalle and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada, as well as many friends and neighbors Bob considered dear to both him and his wife, including the staff at Syros Restaurant where they frequently enjoyed delicious meals and enjoyable conversation. He is predeceased by several siblings; brothers Albert (Bettye), John ”Jack” (Norma), Richard (Dorothy), and sister Clarice (Ronny) Cupolo, all of Canada.
Entombment will take place in Gate of Heaven All Saints Mausoleum, with military honors.
