James R. Henderson, age 87, of Wheatfield, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at home. James was born on July 18, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY. He was the son of the late James W. and the late Madeline B. (Rafferty) Henderson. James was a 1953 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He married Angeline S. Stiver on July 6, 1957. James served in the United States Air Force during the Korean war from 1953 to 1956. He retired in 1988 from Local #71 Sheet Metal Union, Buffalo, NY, as a sheet metal worker and welder. James was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, and was a past Elder and Deacon who visited Shut-ins and Hospitals, and had taught Sunday School. He was an avid weightlifter since the age of 19. He enjoyed hot rods, especially his 1932 Ford three window coupe, and building things such as a replica of the Cyclone roller coaster from Crystal Beach Amusement Park, that was displayed in a museum in Canada. He is survived by his wife, Angeline (Stiver) Henderson, his daughter, April D. (Roy) Hales of Collins, NY and his son, Adam D. Henderson (Vikki Walls) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; his sister Nancy J.(late Walter) Kaczmarzyk of Lewiston, NY; his grandchildren Jeremy (Amanda) Hales and Travis Hales (Loriann DeVito); 2 great grandchildren, Jude Hales and Rori Hales; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held privately with his family at Dickersonville Cemetery, Town of Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, Lewiston, NY.
