Mr. Stephens was my math teacher at LaSalle. It was a class that I truly enjoyed. At the beginning of each class he put together a bunch of numbers very quickly and asked us to add them up in our heads. I never won the contest and I often wondered if Mr Stephens knew the real answer? With his quick wit, I can only assume that he did. My sincere condolences.

Mr Stephens was a good friend to my father, Ken Rideout, a fellow NF teacher, and my math teacher at LaSalle. He came to my father’s wake in 2019 which my family appreciated.
I just heard of his passing.
He was a nice, funny man.
God Bless

I am sorry to hear of Larry's death-- respect given for a life well lived.
I remember talking to him about the change in prayer books at the church. He preferred the old one, and I think he would have known and liked this prayer:
"We seem to give him back to thee, dear God, who gavest him to us. Yet, as thou didst not lose him in giving, so we have not lost him by his return. Not as the world giveth, givest thou, O Lover of souls! What thou givest thou takest not away. For what is thine is ours always, if we are thine. And life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight. Lift us up, O God, that we may see further; cleanse our eyes that we may see more clearly; draw us closer to thyself, that we may know ourselves nearer to our beloved who are with thee. And while thy Son prepareth a place for us, prepare us for that happy place, that, where they are and thou art, we too may be; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

I am so very sorry for your loss. Larry's grandmother Mae Scott & my grandfather Ernest Burden were siblings. I only met Larry once actually at St Mary's hospital a few years ago but he was such a kind & funny man. He nurtured the minds of so many children & what a legacy he's left. God bless

Mr. Stephens was my favorite teacher of all time. I was so fond of him, and he made Geometry just a joy to take. I don't have all that many distinct memories of my HS teachers (graduated in '81), but I do have many memories of him that make me smile...May he rest in peace, and heartfelt condolences and comfort to all who love him.

I had "Big Lar" for math at LaSalle back in 1983 or 84, so long ago. I still remember his big booming smile and how everyone called him Big Lar, although back then I was too shy and called him Mr Stephens. He made math fun, and I still have a love of math until to this day. God rest your soul.
