Obituary of Mary Jean O'Connor Heath

Mary Jean O’Connor Heath, originally of Lewiston, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN with her daughters and brother at her side. Mary Jean was born on June 10, 1942, in Niagara Falls, NY. She is the daughter of the late Norman and the late Catherine (Hennessey) O'Connor. Mary Jean graduated from Lew-Port class of 1960. She served in the United States Navy Hospital Corp. from 1962 until her honorable discharge in 1964. She graduated from Mount St. Mary’s School of Nursing and later received her Bachelor of Science from Empire State College. In 1994 she became an RNFA, one of the first in her hospital. Mary Jean retired from Mount St. Mary's Hospital in 2009 where she was an Operating Room R.N.F.A. She enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy, traveling abroad, everything Irish; and most of all spending time with her family and especially her 6 grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Cynthia (Donald) Fletcher, Cari Heath, Andrea (Robert) Sanders; her siblings James (Kathleen) O'Connor, Patrick (Cynthia) O'Connor, Monica (Late Eberhard) Irmler; and William (Marguerite) O'Connor, sister-in-law to Michael (Judy) Heath, Mary (Late Dr. William) Sweeney and Sheryl (David) Cummings; adoring Nana to her grandchildren Noah (Christiana), Sara and Colby Fletcher, Dominic Palumbo, and Arlie and Jett Sanders, also missing her are several nieces and nephews, cousins and long-time dear friends Sue, Carol, Laurie, Cathy, and Russ. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held with her family, burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Town of Lewiston, NY.
