Obituary of Therese A. Melcher

Therese A. “Tess” Melcher, age 87, of Lewiston and formerly of Pekin died Friday, December 25, 2020 at Our Lady Of Peace NCR in Lewiston, NY. Therese was born June 27, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY. She is the daughter of the late Fred and the late Grace (Magorien) Faery. Tess was a graduate of Wilson High School class of 1950, she also graduated from Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing and SUNY Buffalo obtaining her B.S. She was the former Director of Nursing at the Former Fairchild Manor N.H also the former Director of Nursing at St. Mary's Manor in Niagara Falls. She was the first to open the first Coronary care Unit at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in early 1960's and lastly Tess was a Risk Management consultant for Mt. St. Mary’s Nursing Home from 1994- 2008. Surviving are her children; Michael Melcher of Sheffield, PA, John Melcher of Bemus Point, Martin (Jenny) Melcher of Niagara Falls and Jane Moltzan of Port Charlotte, NC; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Edith Faery. Tess is predeceased by her siblings Ellen Dietz, George Faery, Marie Goodman and James Faery. NO PRIOR VISITATION. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 pm on WEDNESDAY, December 30 at Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Town Line Rd., Ransomville, NY with Rev. James Bastian officiating. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria following.
