Obituary of Gene Merl Ward

Gene (Merl) Ward, age 75 of Wilson NY, passed away suddenly on Friday August 27, 2010. He was born September 20, 1934 in Pyke Township, PA, to the late Robert and Florence (Price) Ward. He was a retired Supervisor of Emil VonDungen Fabricating in Lockport. Gene was a private man who loved fishing at Cape Hatteras, NC and Kapuskasing, Ontario. He was a Mason, past Master of Lockport Lodge#73, and was also a Shriner. Gene was a former Marine from 1954 to 1961 and a member of American legion Post #1451 in Wheatfield and a member of the Wilson Conservation Club. He is survived by his longtime traveling companion and loving wife, Lida (Rosh); his sons, Lon (Margie), Shawn (Lori); daughter in law Brenda; and a sister, Dodie Spencer of PA; his grandchildren, Dayton, Theron, Seth, Kris, Kimberly, Samantha, Jason, Thomas, and Allison. He was predeceased by his son Brian and brothers Robert W. and Harold T. Ward. He was the brother in law of Kathy, Jerry (Patti), Guy (Barb) Rosh, Terri (JB) Beemer and Gail (Bob) Willis. Also survived by many nieces and nephews here and in Pennsylvania. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 9, from 1 to 4 pm at the American Legion Post #1451, 6525 Ward Rd. (Rte.) 429) Wheatfield, NY.
