Obituary of Helen W. Shaw

Helen W. Shaw, age 89, of Youngstown died Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Elderwood of Lockport. Helen was born on May 7, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY. She is the daughter of the late Otto and the late Katarina (Froescher) Westadt. She was a 1949 graduate of red Brick School in Lewiston and Doyle's Beauty School in Buffalo. Helen was a Hairdresser at Janet's Beauty Shop and two other hair salons also a Waitress at Clark's Burge House during the Power Project Years, and then at Hardings Reataurant for 4 years. She retired from Lewiston Porter Central School after 21 1/2 years as a cleaner and maintenance person. Helen Loved crafts, bingo, extensive travel in US, baseball (Atlanta Braves - Turner Field), big band music and the teenage years of her children. She was a former member of the Calvary Baptist church and the Niagara Frontier Bible Church. She is survived by one daughter: Shelley Shear, also her sons, James, and Michael Shaw; her grandchildren Nicole (Anthony) Flanagan- Morreale and Samuel Flanagan. She is predeceased by her a brother, William Westadt and sister, Dorothy Cosgrove. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 11th from 4-7 PM at Hardison Funeral Home, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, NY. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 12th in the funeral home with Rev.
