William P. Cosgrove

William Cosgrove, age 88, of Lewiston husband of Mary Jane Cosgrove (Nee Boss, Cornish) entered into rest surrounded by loving family on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at home in Lewiston. William was born on May 31, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Patrick J. and the late Angela (Troy) Cosgrove. William graduated from Bishop Duffy High School class of 1950 then went on to serve 2 years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in November 1954. He was a longtime resident of Model City, NY. He worked various positions at E.I DuPont in Niagara Falls retiring after 40 years then took on driving school bus for Ransomville Bus Lines for 9 years. William enjoyed riding horses in his early years where he rode in various horse shows in the area. He also enjoyed fishing in Canada and at his cottage on Chautauqua Lake along with being an avid Buffalo Bills and Notre Dame football fan. He loved animals and after retirement he raised and raced homing pigeons. He is survived by his wife; Mary Jane; his children Christopher (Kathy) Cosgrove, David Cosgrove, Jeffrey (Cori) Cosgrove, Michael (Sara) Cosgrove; step-daughters; Pamela (Darryl) May, Cynthia (William) Ferry and Tammy (Robert) Runion. Also surviving is a sister Patricia Ross; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. William is predeceased by two wives Donna Lee Cosgrove (Nee Landers) and Dorothy Cosgrove (Nee Westadt) also a son Russell Cosgrove and siblings Eugene and John Cosgrove. Family and friends may call on THURSDAY,(August 6) from 3-7 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC., N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on FRIDAY, (August 7) at Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Town Line Rd., Ransomville, NY (Please assemble at church) with Rev. James Bastian officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O.
