Obituary of Linda M. Mehaffey

Linda Marie (Webb) Mehaffey, 71, of Youngstown, NY passed away on June 6, 2020 unexpectedly at home. She passed as peacefully and quiet as she had lived these past few years. Linda was born in Roxboro, North Carolina to the late Frank and Hazel Webb on Sept. 16, 1948. She was the oldest of 6 children and graduated in 1966 from Bertie County high school, Windsor, NC. She went on to earn an Associate’s degree in data processing from Niagara County Community College in 1988. She worked at Townline Bowling Alley and Sherwood Division of Harsco before moving to Pennsylvania. She worked at the Community Hospital of Lancaster in the MDS Data Entry department before retiring in 2014. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing as well playing cards and online games. She became an amateur HAM radio operator in 2004 with her late husband, Sam. Linda is survived by her children: Sonya (Leroy) Gates of Wilson, NY, Alicia (Dan Taggesell) Wishon of Mesa, AZ and Richard Cowan of Youngstown, NY. Linda was blessed with four grandchildren: Joshua (Daniela) Gates, Jeremy Gates, Brittani (Nate) Wagner, and James VanWagner. Linda was also blessed with three adorable great-grandchildren: Ethan and Sophia Gates and Kinslee Wagner. Linda is survived by her sisters Janice (late Merle) Johnson of North Carolina, Gayle (Curtis) Osbourn of New Mexico and brother Donald (Shirley) Webb of North Carolina as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bobby and Gene Webb, and nephew Scott Johnson. Services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
