Obituary of Ruth A. VanDenBosch

Ruth A. VanDenBosch, age 70 of Lewiston, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning August 18, 2010 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Ruth was born October 6, 1939 in McGee Mills, PA, the daughter of the late Claude and Edith Sherwood. She was a 1957 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and lived all of her life in Niagara Falls and Lewiston. Ruth was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston and a member of Women of the Moose Lodge #1940 in Lewiston. She loved to cook for family and friends and was considered everyone's "Mom". Ruth enjoyed crossword puzzles and helping with the grape harvest on their family farm. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Allan V. VanDenBosch; her children, Allan A. (Cameo) VanDenBosch of Orlando, FL, Timothy J. (Betty) VanDenBosch and Brian K. (Pearl) VanDenBosch both of Ransomville, and Jennifer Lynn VanDenBosch of Niagara Falls; two step daughters, Pamela A. (Darryl) May of Ransomville and Cynthia (William) Ferry of Greenville, NC; a brother, Kenny (Sandy) Ellis of Brookville, PA; her sisters, Jean (Jerry) Roberts of Florida, Peggy Schuh of North Tonawanda, and Dolly (Bob) Salerno of Niagara Falls. She is also survived by and will be greatly missed by Dana Nicole VanDenBosch, a granddaughter who lived with and was raised by Ruth and was considered a daughter; 11 other grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by a sister, LaRue Sherwood. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Friday from 4 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 21, at 10:00 am in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. Leonard Biniszkiewicz officiating. (Please assemble at Church). Burial will follow in Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092.
