Obituary of Shirley A. Hiddie

Shirley A. Hiddie, age 86, of Youngstown and wife of the late Ricard A. Hiddie entered into rest at the home of her daughter under the care of Hospice on May 12, 2020. Shirley was born on June 27, 1933 in Niagara Falls, N.Y. She is the daughter of the late Fred and Violet (Bilson) Peete. She was raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Kenneth and Grace Coolaw. Shirley graduated from the Youngstown Red Brick School in 1951. She and Richard were married on November 29, 1952. Richard predeceased her on August 18, 2018. Shirley worked as a clerk for McCrory's Store in Lewiston for 15 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed trips to the casino, wintering in Las Vegas, NV., fishing and spending time at their camp in Caneadea, NY. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren. She was their "GiGi."
Shirley is survived by her children; Lynn (late Steven) Beahen of Youngstown, Douglas (Carol) Hiddie of Amherst and Jackie (Steve) Yousett of Lockport; her grandchildren Brandi (Dean) Krassopoulos, Steven (Christine) Beahen, Katie (Jake) Rizzone, Derek (Leanne) Hiddie, Brendon (Casey) Hiddie, April (Chad) Weiser and Amanda Yousett; great-grandchildren Kaliope, Matthew, Ellie, Ben, Natalie and Taylor; sisters Mary Jacobi and Veronica Brown; sister-in-laws Nancy Widdowson, Joyce Hughes and Linda Hiddie; also several nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by a daughter Kathy Hiddie; brothers Edward, Raymond, Gerald, Robert and Richard Peete and sisters Irene Wills, Elizabeth Landers and Dorothy Curtis.
The family would like to thank her nurse Janice and the entire staff of Niagara Hospice.
Also, a special thank you to all the wonderful neighbors, who always looked out for our mom and dad.
Services will be privately held with Shirley's family. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery in Lewiston, NY with Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart officiating a graveside service. Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
