Obituary of Stewart P. Blinco

Stewart P “ Coach” . Blinco, age 91, a sixty-year resident of Lewiston, husband of the late Jeanne M. (Novak) Blinco died on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda, NY. Stewart was born July 23, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, he is the son of the late Stewart D. and the late Clara (Spittler) Blinco. He was a 1946 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and Ithaca College class of 1953. He married Jeanne M. Novak on February 20, 1954, she predeceased him on June 15, 2018. Stewart served proudly in the United States Army during World War II as an MP from 1946 to 1948 serving overseas in Guam, Japan then in California. He was a physical education teacher with Mt. Vernon, NY, Gowanda, NY and for 28 years in the Niagara Falls School District. His passion was coaching football and then for many years’ baseball at Niagara Falls. He served on the Lewiston Porter School Board and was a proud member of the Youngstown VFW and Lewiston Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his sons James Blinco of Lewiston, NY, Edward (Kathleen McMillen) Blinco of Charleston, SC and Thomas (Lynne Shannon) Blinco of Canton, OH; his grandchildren Stephanie (Lee) Campbell, Todd (Christine O'Connor) Blinco, Katherine (Ryan) Jaworski and Andrew (Lindsay Stein) Blinco. He also has 6 great grandchildren. Services will be held privately due to current circumstances. A future celebration of life for friends and family will be announced at a later date.
