Obituary of Dorothy E. Kraft

Dorothy Kraft, 94, passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on April 13, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace in Lewiston, NY. Born Dorothy Emily to Albert and Lillian Bourne in Peabody, MA on December 1, 1925, she was the second of 3 children born to the couple. Dorothy was educated at Danvers High School in MA and attended Providence Bible Institute and Taylor University in Indiana. Her course of study was music, which she shared in the celebration of her faith as a choir director, soloist and organist at the churches she and her husband, George, ministered to over the years throughout New England as well as in Lewiston and Ransomville, NY. She met her husband, George Kraft, at Providence Bible Institute and they married in 1948, sharing a life together for 68 years. They were blessed with 3 sons: Ralph, Mark and Stephen. In addition to raising and nurturing her family and sharing her love of music, Dorothy also worked as a volunteer at Artpark and at Mt St Mary’s Hospital for the St Francis Guild gift shop for 20 years, retiring in 2013. Dorothy’s husband, George, predeceased her in 2017, as well as her youngest son Stephen and brother Philip. She is survived by sons Ralph (Mary) of Topeka, KS and Mark (Diane) of Lewiston, NY. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Rachel Sanchez (Joseph) of New Jersey, her brother Gordon Bourne (Barbara) of Vermont as well as a number of nieces and nephews. We would like to send heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Our Lady of Peace in Lewiston, NY where Dorothy and her husband George resided in their last years. We are grateful for all the care and kindness received. Due to the Coronavirus, there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery.
