Maimu “Mai” Guard, age 83, of Lewiston wife of Fred Guard entered into rest on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Maimu was born on August 2, 1936 in Tostamaa, Estonia, she is the daughter of the late Oscar and the late Anna Sauga. Mai came to the USA from Canada where she attended school in Welland Ontario. She married Fred Guard on August 22, 1959. Mai was fluent in 4 languages and was a graduate of business school. She and Fred Owned and Operated the KOA Campground in Lewiston for 24 years, they also owned and operated the Evergreen Motel and Mobile Park in Lakeland, Florida for 24 years from 1979 to 2003. Mai loved her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening. Mai is survived by her husband Fred; three sons, Mark (Nancy) Guard, Christopher (Judy) Guard, and Fred (Elisabeth) Guard; a Sister Elsa Sauga and her brother Oscar (Anna) Sauga. Also surviving are her grandchildren Hailey, Christopher, Macie, Madison, Annaliza and Fred III. Family and friends may call on Monday, February 10 from 4-7 PM at the Hardison Funeral Homes Inc., N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, NY. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 11 at the Lutheran Church of The Messiah, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, NY with Rev. Ashlin Marchese officiating. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
