Obituary of Shirley M. Dominski

Shirley M. Dominski, age 73 formerly of Swann Rd., Town of Lewiston, died Wednesday August 4, 2010 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a long illness.
Shirley was born November 5, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Vincent and Tyra (Johnson) Evans. She was a 1954 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and had worked as a secretary for the Carborundum Co. On July 7, 1956 she married the love of her life, Joseph Dominski, and spent the next 21 years raising her three children. She had also worked part time at McCrory's and DiCamillo's Bakery. Shirley was predeceased by a daughter, Diana (Dominski) Sims (Dale) in 1989 and for the next 19 years she lovingly became like a mommy to Diana's young boys, Christopher, DJ, and Justin. Her husband, Joseph, predeceased her on August 20, 1999.
Shirley was a member of the Wheatfield Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She also was an avid bowler and animal lover, especially cats.
She is survived by a daughter, Joellen (Gary) Zimmerman of Youngstown; a son, Steven J. (Wendy) Dominski of Georgia; her grandchildren, Joshua (Sabrina), Aaron, and Miranda Zimmerman, Joseph Dominski, Christopher, Dale, Jr. (Jennifer) and Justin Sims; two great granddaughters, Kayleigh and Baylee Sims; a brother, Louis Evans; and sisters and brothers In law, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Freda Pelliter, Bernice Mehls, and Dorothy Evans; and five brothers, Richard, Allen, Vernon, George, and William Evans.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service in remembrance of Shirley on Friday, August 6, 6:30 PM in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7375 Nash Rd., North Tonawanda. There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
