Obituary of Golden V. Myers
Golden V. Myers passed away at her daughter’s home on November 28, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 10, 1924 in Hayfield, VA to her parents, George and Verna Boyce. Her Family moved to Frederick, MD where she was raised with her three sisters. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1940. She moved to Niagara Falls in 1944 where she met her husband Casimer Sloma. They were married in 1946 and soon after built their home in Lewiston. Later in life she also lived in Seminole and Ocala, FL. Golden made beautiful quilts, every stitch by hand, which she had learned from her mother. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and playing golf.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (James) Quarantillo of Lewiston, a son David (Peggy) Smith of Edinburg, TX, Five grandchildren, Todd Crawford of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Travis Crawford of Port Richey, FL, Rebecca Blain of Portland, OR, Joseph (Nicole) Olivero and Michael Olivero (Katie Condon) and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Julia Holcomb of Frederick, MD and several nieces and nephews with a special nod to Mike and Bernie Sloma.
Golden is predeceased by her husband James Myers; daughters Michele Sloma and Jane (Robert) Rodriguez; sisters Ruby Eavey and Lola Engle and former husbands Casimer Sloma and Ray Smith.
Family and friends may call on SUNDAY (Dec 1) from 5 – 7 PM. at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC., N. Fourth and Ridge Sts. Lewiston, NY. Funeral services will be immediately following at 7 PM. with Rev. Holly Coty officiating. Private burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
