Clyde L Burmaster, 78, of Ransomville passed peacefully on Monday August 26, 2019 surrounded by family and loved ones. Clyde spent his entire life in Ransomville, NY and was the son of the late Dietrich and Irene Burmaster. Clyde is survived by his beloved wife Suzanne. They cherished 33 years of marriage. They had a combined family of six children: Chris Burmaster, Justin Gamble, Shane Gamble, Michelle Gamble, Robin Jenneveve, and the late Daniel Burmaster. They also had eight grandchildren. He had two brothers, John Burmaster and the late Donald Burmaster. Clyde was honorably serving as Vice Chairman of the Niagara County legislature and represented district 1. During his 28 years as legislator, Clyde often served in the role of Chairman and Vice Chairman. Throughout his political career, Clyde worked tirelessly on countless projects to improve his community, lower taxes, and always do the right thing with integrity. Prior to his political career, Clyde worked as a private investigator for 32 years, and retired as the Director of Investigations for a large international firm. He also served our Country during the Vietnam era as a Sergeant in the US Army Infantry. Clyde was very active in his community. He was both a friend and mentor to many people. What Clyde loved most was helping other people, many of whom he never even met. He was past President of the Niagara Tobacco Asset Corporation, past President of the Niagara Community Action Program, past President of the Ransomville Free Library board, past President of the North Ridge Cemetery Association, and past President of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a member of the O. Leo Curtis Post 830 American Legion and the Old Fort Niagara Association. Clyde was on the board of Directors for the Festival of Lights and was also a Board Chair for the Ransomville Methodist church. Clyde enjoyed vacationing with his wife and spending quality time with his family. He cherished his close relationship with his son Chris, and enjoy traveling to Florida to spend time with him. Clyde was an avid golfer, and always had a love for sports cars. He also enjoyed collecting Civil War memorabilia.
