Obituary of Theodore H. Dexter
Theodore Henry Dexter, age 96, formerly of Lewiston died on Sunday August 24, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Marilyn (nee Cantara); dear father of Carol (Jesse) Villagran, Martha (Dan) Rogala, and the late John Dexter; dear grandfather of Emily (Gregory) Moir, Adam (Taylor) Mason, Ted (Amber) Mason, Colin (Emilie) Mason, and Angela (Steve) Klutkowski, Lorraine (Daniel) Robinson; dear great grandfather of Nicholas Lindsay, Dexter and Annabelle Klutkowski, Braeden and Azure Mason; dear brother of Donald (late Ruth) Dexter.
Born in Preston, Cuba, to Theodora (Trelawny) and Harry Dexter. Dr. Dexter received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Tulane University, and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946 and Naval Reserve from 1946-48. He was a chemist at Dupont, a Section Chief in Research at Olin Mathieson, and retired from Hooker Chemical and Occidental Petroleum as a Research Supervisor in 1986. He was section leader in the Soap and Detergent Association, chairman of the local WNY Section of American Chemical Society, and a violinist in local symphony orchestras. Dr. Dexter was also very active in St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lewiston. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida with his family and sailing in the Niagara River and Lake Ontario.
NO PRIOR VISITATION. A Funeral service will be held on WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 400 Ridge St. Lewiston, NY 14092 with Rev. Barbara Price officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverdale Cemetery.
