Eleanor Smith

March 19, 1948 — May 15, 2019

E. Gail Smith, 71 of Ransomville, NY entered into rest on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Niagara Hospice House Lockport, NY. Born in Cooperstown, NY on March 19, 1948 she was the daughter of the late David and the late Eleanor (Brant) Miller. After graduating from Cortland High School, Gail went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree at SUNY Cortland and attended graduate school at The University of Buffalo. Early in her professional life she worked in education, specializing in speech and language development for autistic children. For most of her professional life she was a financial advisor and business owner at her firm E.G. Smith Investment Services in Niagara Falls. Gail enjoyed gardening, good music, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and, especially, her grandchildren. Gail has been described as “a smart; encouraging and sometimes sharp tongued hippie”. She was always giving to others and saved a life by selflessly donating a kidney. Surviving is her son Jeremiah (Julie) Smith; her daughter; Megan (Jeffrey) Sackman; and grandchildren Ellie and Whitaker Sackman; all of Lewiston, NY. A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday (June 13) from 4-6 PM at Tin Pan Alley 775 Cayuga St. Lewiston, NY 14092. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Rd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Arrangements entrusted to Hardison Funeral Homes Inc. Lewiston, NY. Please visit www.hardisonfuneralhomes.com for online condolences.
