Obituary of Herman J. Rueter

Herman J. Rueter 89, of Youngstown, NY husband of Pauline P. Poupart Rueter died Tuesday February 26, 2019 at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 09, 1929 he was the son of the late Herman and the late Frieda Albrecht Rueter. Mr. Rueter married Pauline P. Poupart on September 4, 1954.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean war from 1951 to 1953.

 Herman was a 1947 Graduate of LaSalle High School, a former member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club, an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres Fan. He was a Season ticket holder for many years for the Niagara University Basketball Team. He enjoyed football, basketball, baseball in High School as well as playing basketball while in the Military, and later in life he enjoyed his grandchildren’s sports activities.

He was a union Carpenter and a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 280 Lockport, NY.

Surviving is his wife Pauline P. (Poupart) Rueter; five daughters Gale (Dennis) Stornelli of Lewiston, NY, Mary Beth (Jim) Carroll of Ransomville, NY, Carol (Bruce) Matthews of Youngstown, NY, Caryn (late Robert) Graby of Rochester, NY and Lisa Rueter of Mariotta, GA; a sister Susanne (late John) McInerney of Cape Coral, FL. His pride and joy were his 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother William Rueter.

Family and friends may call on FRIDAY from 4-8 PM at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC. N. Fourth and Ridge Sts. Lewiston, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on SATURDAY (March 2) at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 620 Center St., Lewiston with Rev. John Graden officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
