Obituary of Joanne Hatfield Muller

Joanne Hatfield Muller 78, of Youngstown wife of W. Brian Muller passed away on February 5^th, 2019 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. She was born on September 06,1940 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Franklin R. and the late Margaret Sinclair Hatfield. She attended local schools and in 1955 her family moved to Youngstown, NY where she graduated in 1958 from Lewiston-Porter Central School, to this day she enjoyed the once a month lunch dates with classmates. She began her career in the general insurance field with O’Reilly Realty & Insuring Corp. which later was purchased by William G. Mayne Jr. She worked for Mr. Mayne for 13 years and then managed Daniel L. Wilson Inc. in Youngstown owned by Charles R. Rice for another 13 year, and then to Rice & Company retiring in 1988. She then took the job of Water/Sewer billing clerk for the Town of Porter and retired in 1999. She married W. Brian Muller in 1960 in Lewiston, NY and they celebrated 59 years of marriage. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown for over 50 years where she taught Sunday school for five years when her children were small. She also belonged to the Niagara County Farm Bureau and was a 4H leader. She was a member of the Youngstown water Ski Club for many years and participated in the ski shows at the waterfront on Labor Day each year prior to the parade and field days. She also volunteered at the Youngstown field days along side her husband of 59 years helping to cut veggies for the famous chowder and in the blanket stand he ran for years. She loved to garden, crochet, crafts, needle work, cooking, reading and especially caring for her grandchildren who were the joy of her life. After retiring she and her husband spent every summer at their cottage near North Bay, Ontario and had many good times with family and friends.

She is survived by sons Scott Muller (Sheree Huff), Todd (Bridget) Muller, grandchildren Carly, Jessica, Emily, Brian, Madeline Haenle and many other dear cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Robert L. Hatfield, and dear cousins Judith A. Buzzelli and Laura Paterson Imerese.

A memorial service will be held on SATURDAY (FEB 9) at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown 100 Church St. Youngstown, NY 14174.
