Obituary of Rev. Dr. Charles F. Lamb

Rev. Dr. Charles F. Lamb entered into rest on Wednesday January 23, 2019 at the Niagara Hospice House Lockport, NY. Born in Maryville, TN, 1934 graduated from Maryville College (Cum Laude) with a B.A in 1956, from the Graduate Seminary of Phillips University with a M.Div. in 1961, and from New York Theological Seminary with a D Min in 1990 (That’s bachelor of arts, master of divinity, doctor of ministry). He was ordained in 1961 in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and served East Aurora Christian Church from 1961 to 1971. From 1971 to 1975 he was Associate Regional Minister of the Disciples of Christ in the Northeast and Regional Minister from 1975 through 1998. The Northeastern Region included New York, New England and New Jersey. He received mutual standing in the United Church of Christ in the 1970’s and has maintained UCC credentials since that time. Since retirement in 1998 he has worked as Assistant to the Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, New York and did an 8 month long interim Pastor position at Payne Ave. Christian Church, he also worked as an adjunct professor in the Religion Dept. of Niagara University from 1998 through 2004. He is married to Betty J. Lamb who is retired from the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara Falls. He has served as an elected Village Trustee in East Aurora, and as Chairman of the College of Regional Ministers of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was very active in environmental affairs serving as an Executive Committee member of the Niagara Group of the Sierra Club and on the Executive Committee of Residents for Responsible Government in Youngstown. He authored 4 books sharing his experiences as a minister and enjoyed writing columns for “My View” in the Buffalo News.

Surviving is his wife Betty J. Lamb; his children, Elizabeth Susan (Steve) Latz , Linda L. (Mark) Macfarland , Jennifer J. (David) Mehl ; Step- son’s Mark David ( Susie ) Ott and Matthew Benjamin Ott; also surviving are 8 grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on SATURDAY (FEB 2) at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown 100 Church St. Youngstown, NY 14174.
