Obituary of Margaret M. Vitch
Margaret Mary (Daisy) McGibbon Vitch was called home by God on December 23, after a brief illness.
Born in 1930 in Niagara Falls, Canada, Daisy was one of seven children of John and Blanche (nee Pariseau) McGibbon. She graduated from Loretto Academy, attended the University of Toronto, and began teaching in Canada. After marrying Allan Vitch, Daisy moved to Niagara Falls and later to Lewiston. Daisy is survived by her husband and six children, Michael (Janice Patrick), Tricia Caliguire (Mark), Andrew (Susan Maryk), David (Lisa DiBartolomeo), Susan Rozak (Jeff), and Dan (Jennifer Cantara), her brother Ray McGibbon, twelve grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Daisy graduated from NCCC and earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from SUNY College at Buffalo. She taught special education in Niagara Falls until retiring in 1992, and then went on to teach at Stella Niagara in Youngstown.
Daisy was active in her church and community, sang in the choir, was a past president of the Altar & Rosary Society and the Secular Franciscan Order, taught CCD classes, and brought Holy Communion to the homebound.
Daisy loved her family and home, happiest when trying a new recipe, hosting a large celebration, sewing for family, cultivating her garden, and decorating for holidays. She was known for her kindness, patience, and graciousness. Her strong faith sustains her family as they mourn her loss.
