Obituary of Janet A. Baggallay

Janet A. Baggallay, of Youngstown, NY, died Monday, July 5, 2010 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Born in Renovo, PA on May 10, 1918 to the late J. Albert and Caroline (Fisher) Anderson. She graduated from Williamsport, PA, High School in 1936 and from Lake Erie College in Painsville, OH with a Bachelors Degree in English. She was the first woman radio announcer at Station "WRAK" for two years during WW II. Janet lived in the Williamsport area for several years and operated the family grocery store called "Fisher & Anderson" in Williamsport for 10 years. She then moved to Niagara Falls and was a 9th and 10th Grade English Teacher for the Niagara Falls School System at LaSalle Senior School from 1959-1961. In 1976 Janet moved to Youngstown and worked as a store clerk at Yankee Spirits Liquor Store, Youngstown from 1977-1991. She also volunteered at the Youngstown Free Library and was a member of the Study Club. Janet's closest friend was Phyllis Hastings, her late husband, Kirk and their family, ever since moving to Youngstown in 1976. Private services will be held as per Janet's wishes. Memorials may be made to the Youngstown Free Library.
