Obituary of Alice M. Chmaj

Alice M. Chmaj 81 of Youngstown, NY wife of Dennis Chmaj entered into rest on Thursday November 22, 2018 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 29, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Jack and the late Apolonia Swiabek Myers. Alice married Dennis J. Chmaj on May 21, 1966. She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School class of 1957 and went on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry at Syracuse University. Alice was employed as an analytical chemist for 13 years at Linde-Union Carbide. She was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary since 1970, she enjoyed traveling, swimming and in her younger years loved snow skiing and scuba diving.

Surviving is her husband Dennis; a son Brian Chmaj of Niagara Falls; a daughter: Kathleen Zynda of Tega Cay, SC; her sister Dorothy Smith of New Bern, NC and her grandchildren Trevor, Megan and Cameron Zynda and Joseph and Marissa Chmaj.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman & Second, Youngstown on WEDNESDAY (Nov.28) at 11:00 AM (Please assemble at the church) with Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity RC Cemetery, Lewiston.
