Eugene F. McGrew, 56, of Ransomville, died Friday, July 2, 2010, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 15, 1954 to JoAnne (Capadano) McGrew and the late Thomas McGrew. After graduating from Wilson Central High School in 1973 and from Alfred Tech College, with a Culinary Arts Degree, he enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1979-1992. While serving his country, he received the Outstanding Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal with 4 Devices, the National Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Long Tour Ribbon and Longevity Service Award Ribbon. After his military career, Eugene was employed at the Ford Stamping Plant in Lackawanna for 13 years, retiring in February 2008. He was a member of the American Legion, Wheatfield Post and attended the Ransomville Free Methodist Church. Eugene enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, art, painting, culinary and was a talented Ice Sculptor. Eugene is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Patricia (Lockwood) McGrew; sons, Thomas McGrew, Eugene McGrew, Jr. and James McGrew; his mother, JoAnne McGrew; seven grandchildren; two brothers; five sisters and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held Tuesday (July 6th) at 11:00 AM from the funeral home, with Rev. James LaBarr officiating. Burial in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria.
