Maureen was a blessing to the Our Hopes Bible Study Group at Pendleton Center Untited Methodist Church. She was a mentor to all of us and we have been truly blessed to have her as our friend. When I think of Maureen, I think of Rainbows, Gods Grace and her two adorable granddaughters, Emily Joy and Audrey, who she cherished. Many prayers are lifted up for those she left behind during this time of mourning and great joy in celebrating Maureen's life and her journey home. May God Bless her friends & family.

Maureen was a delight to grow up with - silly and a prankster in Girl Scouts - camp will never be the same! She was a tremendous colleague all the way through school, from elementary through high school. She was brilliant and always strove to excel, proving to be an inspiration to all of our classmates. I especially appreciated her undying support of my singing over the years. I will miss her wonderful fun-loving spirit!

Jim: I am deeply sorry for your loss. Since those days at the Wilson Baptist Church, I have fondly remembered events like when I went to the Broadway Market at some ungodly morning hour with your dad, swimming in the old swimming hole on the farm, and then having lunch with your dad some weeks ago renewing our memories. I was pleased to know of your progression into clinical psychology. My prayers are for peace within and God's loving mercy continually with your and your family. PEACE!

We feel that we have to take some time to let the family of Maureen Evans know how sad we are for her passing. A loss like Maureen reminds us over and over again that our life is not our own---God is in control--his creates our coming into this world and when our time on this earth is done.
We pray that you all will find peace in your hearts as you rest in God's comfort and in His promises of a "perfect" home---that Maureen is now there--no more sickness, worries, sadness--ETERNITY IN THE HEAVENLY ARMS OF OUR GOD/CREATOR!!!
I cannot close this without you all knowing how much we appreciated ALL that Maureen did for our 3 girls as their guidence counsler. She encouraged them, motivated them, and wisely directed them into the successful careers that they are in now. Maureen did more than her job required because she truely cared about her students.
May you soon rest in the wonderful pride, experieces, and memories that you all have with Maureen---and hold onto that "peace that surpasses all understanding".
Sincerly,
Randy & Chris Goodman

I have been preparing to travel for work in Asia -- specifically China and Japan to teach and be taught so many wondorus things. Each day has been exciting in the effort of learning to read, write, speak these exquisitely beautiful characters and each day understanding a little more.
About two weeks ago Maureen came to my mind. Then, again, Maureen was there persistantly jogging my mind. I did a google search wondering what was up? I realized later she must have stopped by to say good-bye. Nice of her since I've not had contact with upstate New York in years.
My thoughts of Maureen traveled suddenly to Rocky Perch and a night spent together there wrapped in our giggles and suppressed laughter. Our unsuccessfully quiet efforts just to prevent her mother's increasing annoyance at our noise. Her Mom's head would pop up with each escaped bit of laughter. I see Mariahs' eyes piercing the darkness because we were keeping her awake with our innocent pleasure, our youthful noise. Maureen and I quietly laughed until our stomachs ached and tears streaked our cheeks. It was a very good time together one of many we enjoyed.
Our friendship deep and true comes back to me from our youth. I am grateful for the many times we shared. Maureen I wish you well as you know I always would.
Good-bye my beloved friend with one last hug, Good-bye. Kelly

I am 6.5 years late in finding out that my dear classmate has died. I just last week made contact with the Class of 1968's website and saw her memorial tribute. I am so sad that she was taken from her loving family too young. Her infectious smile, laughter and vibrant personality are still fresh in my mind. Sincere condolences to husband Jim and her extended family. She was a treasure.
