Obituary of James E. Oliphant
James E. Oliphant, of Lockport, NY died Saturday July 28, 2018 at Niagara Hospice House after a lengthy illness. Born in Niagara Falls on December 05, 1943 to the late Ennis and Margaret (Heywang) Oliphant. He graduated from Lewiston- Porter High School in 1961 and entered the U.S Army on May 1965 until his honorable discharge May 1967. Jim was the owner and operator of the Wilson Boat House for 26 Years, retiring in 1999.
He was totally dedicated and involved with his family. He was a member of the Wilson Lion’s Club; the “Investment Club”, St. John the Baptist RC Church, Lockport, and former Eucharistic Minister at St. Brendan on the Lake RC Church in Wilson. Jim was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan, a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed his hunting trips and casino trips.
On January 27, 1968, Jim married Barbara (McAvoy) Oliphant. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Nadine (Paul) Kurial; Scott Oliphant; Lisa Rogers and Kevin (Crystal) Oliphant, 8 grandchildren; Kelsey; Noah; Morgan; Michael; Katelyn; Kaylee; Payton; and Taylor; 1 great grandson, Easton; 2 sisters, Marjorie Eodice and Helen Denny and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Charles “Chuck” Oliphant and sisters Dorothy Seefeldt and Betty Jane Goodman.
Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME 3648 Ransomville Rd. Ransomville, Tuesday From 4-8 PM. A Memorial mass will be held Wednesday (August , 01) at 10:00 AM. From St. Brendan on the Lake RC Church, 345 Lake St. Wilson, NY with Rev. Jozef Dudzik officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson followed by military honors. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc. or Niagara Hospice.
