Obituary of Eleanor R. Mandel
Eleanor R. Mandel, age 85 of Ransomville, peacefully passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor was born on April 28, 1933 in saint- Regis, Quebec, the daughter if Angus Sr. and Anne (Oakes) Bonaparte. On August 6, 1960 Eleanor married James S. Mandel in Buffalo, who predeceased her in 2011.
A homemaker, she moved to Ransomville with Jim in 1970 and enjoyed raising her young family and spending time with neighbors and friends. She enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, playing bingo and was known for her famous stuffing she made for the holidays. She especially liked long weekends with Jim at their summer cabin in Cuba. Her favorite color was red and she was always happiest when visiting with her grandchildren. Eleanor was especially proud of her heritage as a Native American of the Mohawk of Akwesasne Tribe.
She is survived by her son; Richard (Rita) Gerard of Atlanta, GA, three daughters; Frances (Rodney) Kruzicke, Patricia (Dale) Zastrow and Alicia (Joe) Coccho all of Wilson, one sister; Barbara Lazore of Akwesasne, NY. Also survived by seven grandchildren; Travis, Brittany, Tera, Amber, Denny, Erin, Wade and nine great- grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five brothers; Homer, Hubert, Albert, Angus Jr., Joseph and two sisters; Margie and Anna Mae, grandson; Ken and great-grandson; Mark.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on WEDNSDAY from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev.
