Obituary of Franklin "Frank" L. Wright
Franklin L. "Frank" Wright, age 84 of Lewiston, died Sunday December 3, 2017 at his home under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.
Frank was born July 30, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Lester and Laura C. (Flack) Wright. He graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1951 and went to work for Niagara Welding in Niagara Falls, NY. Frank was inducted into the U.S. Army in June of 1956 and was honorably discharged as a PFC in March of 1958. He served as a Military Policeman in Panmunjom, Korea during the Peace talks and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter Medal. Frank married Marie D. Schechterly on September 26, 1959 and they have resided in Lewiston since 1970. He began his career as a welder with Ironworkers Local #9 in Niagara Falls in 1959, retiring in1990.
Frank was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Youngstown. He was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Niagara River Station Fishing Club, Grand Island; a member of the 3 F , Conservation Club in Youngstown and member of its' Board of Directors. He had also served on the Ironworkers Local #9 Board of Directors. He enjoyed wood carving and taught it at the Lewiston Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Susan (Bradley) Milleville of Ransomville; a son, David (Jessica) Wright of Youngstown; his grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, and Nicholas Wright; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin sister, Frances (late James) Murphy, and two other sisters, Catherine (late Floyd) Hall and Virginia (late Laurence, Sr.) Lang.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, at 11:00 AM in St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Lockport St., Youngstown, with the Rev. David Duke officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
