Clarence R. Jackson, age 85 of Youngstown, died Sunday May 23, 2010 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a long illness. Clarence was born May 31, 1924 in Port Dalhousie, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Percy J. and Alice (Thomas) Jackson and has resided in Youngstown the past 40 years. A WW II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army with the 1346 Combat Engineers in the South Pacific. Clarence was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of 1st Sgt. He was employed by the City of Niagara Falls for over 30 years, retiring as a foreman. Clarence was a Life Member of the V.F.W. Lake Ontario Post #313 in Youngstown and had held several officer's positions. He was a loving husband to Virginia M. (Fox) Jackson who predeceased him on January 2, 2010. He is survived by two daughters, Janice Marshall and Jean Harm; two nephews, Larry (Lisa) Jackson and Bill (Anita) Jackson; a niece, Susan (Winston) Collins; and his sister in law, Virginia Jackson. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Jackson. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Thursday, May 27, at 10:00 am in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Military Rd., Lewiston. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co Ambulance Fund., PO Box 387, Youngstown, NY 14174 would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
