Anthony "Tony" Albert Terrameo, Sr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at home under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Tony was born November 20, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Pasquale and Philomena (Basso) Terrameo. He attended public schools in Niagara Falls, graduating from Trott Vocational School. He served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy. Tony served aboard the USS Swearer in the South Pacific and was awarded several medals for his service. Prior to the war Tony worked at Moore Business Forms. After the war he worked for the NY Telephone Company, followed by the US Postal Service, and then became a City of Niagara Falls Fire Fighter. Tony retired from the Niagara Falls Fire Department in 1973, the job he loved most. He enjoyed wood carving and helping his wife with Arts and Crafts Shows. Tony was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston and a member of its' Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Lewiston V.F.W. Down River Post #7487; the American Legion Post #1083 in Lewiston, the 3F Conservation Club in Lewiston, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #584 in Lewiston. He was a humble man, loved by all who knew him. In addition to his wife of almost 63 years, Mildred (Lombardi) Terrameo, Tony is survived by a son, Anthony A. Terrameo, Jr. of Ventura, CA; daughters, Sister Judith A. Terrameo, OSF and Jane (Paul) Kloosterman both of Ransomville; his grandchildren, Meegan (Frank) Rotella, John Kloosterman and Paul (Kristen) Kloosterman; great grandchildren, Paul Kloosterman and Dakota Rotella. He is also survived by sister-in-laws, Virginia (David) Lass and Mary Hibbard, brother in laws James and Felix Lombardi as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Isabelle Micinilio and a brother, Joseph Terrameo; sister-in-laws, Adelaide Baker and Santina James and brother-in-law Honorable Sebastian Lombardi. The family will receive friends at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday from 7 - 9 pm and on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Prayers will be said on Monday, May 10, at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Sebastian C. Pierro officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tony' memory may be made to St. Peter's RC Church, 620 Center St., Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
