Obituary of Sharon E. Strasburg

Sharon Eloise Strasburg, age 71 of Winter Haven FL, and formerly of Ransomville died Saturday April 8, 2017 in the Winter Haven Hospital in Florida after a long illness.
Sharon was born May 19, 1945 in Children's Hospital in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Clarence and Laura (Bradley) Blake. She was raised in Ransomville and graduated from Wilson Central High School in 1963 and Trott Vocational School of Practical Nursing in 1971. Sharon was employed at the Niagara Falls Memorial Nursing Home and then by Heritage Manor of Ransomville for several years as Charge Attendant.
Sharon was a foster parent along with her late husband, Curtis Palmatier, for many years. They adopted two of their foster children. They were honored as Niagara County`s Foster Parents of the Year in 1992, shortly before Mr. Palmatier passed away. She also was a past member of the Western NY Spina Bifida Association where she served on the Board of Directors.
On April 3, 1993, Sharon wed Albert Strasburg. They lived in Ransomville until 1998 when they moved to Winter Haven, Florida. She currently attended St. John`s United Methodist Church in Winter Haven where she was a member of the Acts of Praise Sunday School Class. She also attended Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven.
She was a member of the Ransomville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and was also a past member of the North Ridge United Methodist Church.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Albert, two daughters, Sherry (Ken) Snyder of Hamburg, NY and Deanna Palmatier of Winter Haven, FL; five step children; Marla (Richard) Crawford of Grand Island, NY, Albert Strasburg of Arizona, Donald Strasburg of Niagara Falls, John (Luisa) Strasburg of Naples, FL and Janine Strasburg Grabolle of Arizona; five grandchildren, Marissa (Brendan) Neill of Buffalo, NY, Ian Shepard and Isaac Snyder of Hamburg, NY and Donna Strasburg of Naples, FL; and a great grandchild, Eloise Neill of Buffalo, NY. She was predeceased by her late husband, Curtis Palmatier, two daughters; Wendy Foster and Christine Palmatier; a sister, Claudia Blake and a brother, Gary Blake.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 6 - 8 pm. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 22, at 11:00 AM in the North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd. Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ransomville United Methodist Church, PO Box 250, Ransomville, NY 14131, the Spina Bifida Association of Western New York, Buffalo Chapter, 137 Warner Avenue, North Tonawanda, NY 14120 or to the Ransomville Historical Society Museum.
