William G. Ventry Jr. of Youngstown, NY passed away on Monday May 28, 2018. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 18, 1934 to the late William G. Ventry Sr. and Florence (Delgatto) Ventry. William graduated from Trott Vocational School and served in the Air National Guard. He opened his own Automotive repair business in Youngtown, which he operated from 1962- 1985. Upon retirement, he turned his focus to woodcarving birds and wildlife. He took pride in entering many competitions in Ontario, Canada showcasing his work and winning many ribbons and awards. Bill was proudly a 60 year plus member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. in which he served as treasurer and third assist. chief and offered assistance and guidance toward the purchase of fire trucks for the company. He was a very active member at St. Bernard’s RC Church for many years as an usher. He enjoyed fishing and working at his cottage at Jak Lake, Ontario, often his favorite mode of transportation was his John Deere tractor. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maureen (Suitor) Ventry; sons Michael R. (Teresa) Ventry; Peter Ventry; daughters, Katherine M. Ventry and Theresa L. Ventry, Brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Ventry; David (Joy) Ventry; sisters, Marie (Leonard-Dec) Leone; and Judy (Ralph) Manfredi; He was predeceased by brothers, James Ventry; Joseph “Enjoy” (Tillie) Ventry and Richard (Marion) Ventry. Bill is also survived by grandchildren; Benjamin and Jacqueline Ventry; Elizabeth (Dan) Nielsen; Carley F. Ventry and great granddaughter, Lily Ventry and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. FOURTH and RIDGE STS. Lewiston, WEDNESDAY from 7-9 PM and THURSDAY from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Bernard’s RC Church, Second and Hinman Sts. Youngstown at 11:00 AM with Msgr. David LiPuma officiating.(PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH) Burial to follow at Oakland Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Youngstown Vol. Fire Co.
