Ronald D. Tower, age 68 of Ransomville, died Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital after a long illness. Ron was born August 11, 1949 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Ronald C. and Arlene (Plumadore) Tower and was a 1968 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Ron served with the Seabees until his honorable discharge in July of 1970. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Ron was a carpenter and was employed by Scrufari Construction in Niagara Falls for 20 years until 2003. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local #280 and had served on the Executive Board of the Union. From 2006 to 2010 Ron worked part time for the Town of Porter. He was a member of and former Chief and Assistant Chief of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. as well as serving as a Commissioner for the Ransomville Fire District. Ron also enjoyed bowling in leagues in Lewiston and Wilson. He married Donna (Thaxter) Tower on October 12, 1980. In addition to Donna he is survived by his children, Kenneth (Karen) Tower, Leslie (Jason) Doyle, Trisha Tim, and Robert Tower (fiancé` Mallory Jakaub); his grandchildren, Destiny and Justine Metzler, Liberty Doyle, Olivia, Devon, and Ella Tower, Matthew Clark, Madilyne and Nyx Tim; a great grandson, Bentley William Harris; and two sisters, Linda Tower and Janis Powers; he was predeceased by a brother, Gary Tower. The family will be receiving friends at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Saturday, May 12, from 3- 6 pm. Military Honors will follow at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131.
