Robert L. "Cubby" Myers, age 71 of Ransomville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 4, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Myers was born July 23, 1938 in Ransomville, NY, the son of the late Loren P. and Ruth (Clark) Myers. He was Heavy Equipment Operator, employed by NY State DOT for 34 years retiring in 1998. Robert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1957 to 1960. He was stationed in Germany where he served on Border patrol during the Cold War. It was here that he met his wife, Gertrud "Gerti" (Dorn) Myers whom he married on December 11, 1959. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Robert was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge; an Exempt member of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Company; a member of the O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Post 830 in Ransomville; a former Trustee of the Ransomville Public Library; and an original member of the Ransomville "Slowpokes". He enjoyed the Town of Porter and Niagara County Historical Societies and Military History. For many years he followed and enjoyed all kinds of auto racing. He greatly loved spending time with his family and friends, and so much fun with his two grandsons. In addition to his wife, Gerti, he is survived by his daughter, Janet (Jeffrey) Rohring of Wilson; his beloved grandsons, Caleb and Jake Rohring of Wilson; two sisters, Betty (Guy) Davidson of Lewiston and Andrea (Donald) Moshier of Youngstown; his aunt, Bernice Myers of Ransomville; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 8, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Alexander Knowles officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd., Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, or to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131.
