Robert E. Lindsay, age 83 of Youngstown died Tuesday February 14, 2017 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness. Bob was born August 24, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Milton J. and Marie (Rick) Lindsay and was raised in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a 1951 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Niagara University in 1955. While at Niagara he was a member of the R.O.T.C. program and in November of 1955 he entered the Army as a 2nd Lt., serving until his honorable discharge as a 1st Lt. in November of 1957. After the service he joined Lindsay News and Photo in Niagara Falls, a business started by his father, and co-owned and operated it with his brother Milton for over 50 years. Bob married Eleanor (Phipps) Lindsay on February 25, 1956 and they have lived the past 48 years in Youngstown. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Niagara Falls Country Club. He was also a former member of the Niagara Falls Knights of Columbus. Bob enjoyed fishing, his family, boating, tennis and spending time in Florida. In addition to his wife, Eleanor, he is survived by a son, Robert E. Lindsay, Jr. (Michelle Ludwig) of Lakeworth, FL; a daughter, Janet Lindsay-Ebert of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Eric and Meghan Ebert; and his brother, Milton J. Lindsay, Jr. of Youngstown and one niece and two nephews. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday, February 20, from 2 - 6 pm. Funeral services, followed by Military Honors, will begin at 6:00 pm in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Allegretto officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13270-3049.
