Norma E. (Smith) Wilson, age 73 of Ransomville, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on Monday May 11, 2009 in the comfort of her home with her family under the care of Niagara Hospice. Norma was born November 30, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario, and became a U.S. citizen 52 years ago. She last worked as a cashier at Grand Island Sales and Service for over 10 years. Previous to that she was employed as a toll collector for the NY State Thruway Authority on Grand Island. She loved her family and enjoyed spending holidays and weekend dinners together. Norma spent a lot of her free time knitting, crocheting and working outside in the garden. Norma was the loving mother of six children, James D. (Dawn) Wilson of Niagara Falls, NY, Linda A. Wilson (the Late Dennis Harvey) of Ransomville, John C. (Keri) Wilson of Painted Post, NY, Thomas A. (Amanda) Wilson of Bowmanville, Ontario, Brenda S. Brierley of Niagara Falls, NY, and Martha E. Wilson of Ransomville. She was the dear grandmother of 11 grandchildren, Katherine A., Daniel J., Christopher J., Jaron M., Anastasia G., Andrew N., and Stephanie C. Wilson, Brian J. and Melissa S. Brierley, Katelynn M. Benedict, and Nicholas W. Myers. She was known as "G-G" to her great grandson, Alexander J. Reid. Norma was predeceased by her mother, Martha (Harris) Smith and the father who raised her, Donald C. Brown; a daughter in law, Melanie J. (Wieszczyk) Wilson, and a son in law, Dennis J. Harvey. She also had a brother, Arthur E. Smith of England, with whom she was reunited with, after 50 years of separation, in 1998, after years of searching. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 14, at 10:00 am in the funeral home, with the Rev. Civaglia Julio, CRST officiating. Burial will follow in the Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
