Mary Louise Wieland, 88, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, under the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice after a long decline with Alzheimer's disease. Born on March 15, 1936, in Fort Niagara, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Orsino and Margaret (nee Amsdill) Hodge.

On October 24, 1959, Mary married Kenneth W. Wieland in Youngstown, NY. Together, they operated Wieland's Greenhouses on River Road in Youngstown, NY, for many years. She also contributed to the local community by working at several businesses, including Barnum's Pharmacy, Old Fort Niagara, and Bell Aerospace.

Mary was actively involved in church activities at St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown, NY, where she served as a lay reader and Warden, and participated in many committees and community service projects over the years. She leaves behind a legacy of service with a smile. Mary Louise Wieland will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. Her legacy of service, love, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Mary's greatest pride was her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her youngest son, Keith Wieland. She is survived by her loving children, Wendy (David) Wieland-Alter, Karen (Andrew) Cline, and Eric (Wendy Shaw) Wieland. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Lauren (Rahul Sharma) Schmidt, Amanda (Jonah) Jueckstock, Erich Schmidt, Kristine (Brandon) Abraham, Kendra (Spencer) Lilly, and Eric (Olivia Reagan) Wieland; and adored great-granddaughters, Mila and Amara Schmidt, Emma and Amelia Jueckstock.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Wendy Shaw for her overwhelming consideration and care that she bestowed on Mary, as well as to Niagara Hospice, especially Jodie and Lexi, for their compassionate and professional care, for always wearing their brightest colors for Mary, and for their friendship in the end.

There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date to be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown, NY. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, Youngstown Volunteer Fire Company, or St. John's Episcopal Church.
