Ransomville

Kenneth William Crewe, age 79, passed away on February 18, 2025, under the care of Niagara Hospice in Wheatfield, NY. Ken was born on June 25, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY, the oldest son of the late, William Henry and Mildred Grace (nee Buttery) Crewe. 

He attended kindergarten and first grade at the Fort Niagara School, the red brick school in Youngstown and Lewiston-Porter. Ken also attended School in Niagara Falls until his 16th birthday.

Ken was employed by the Niagara Wheatfield Central School district as a Janitor for 26 years before he retired. He also played the role of Santa Clause for his many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Ken was a member of the Ransomville Rural Retiree’s and enjoyed attending their monthly meetings, going on trips with members, the Erie Canal Boat Ride and the Attica Railroad Fall Foilage Train ride. He loved to play bingo on Saturday nights with is sister Grace, niece Diane and his cousins Peggy and Chuck Leone, they even took him to the Ransomville Race Track on Friday nights.

Besides his parents, Ken was also predeceased by sisters, Charlene Crewe, Evelyn Gilmer, Linda St. Cyr and brother Russell H. Crewe.

He is survived by his dear siblings, Grace Austin, of Ransomville, NY, with whom Ken resided with for the last 38 years, Alice Williams, of Niagara Falls, NY and Charles D. (Linda Summers) Crewe, of Niagara Falls, NY; caring uncle Robert (Leronna) Buttery, of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements entrusted to the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ransomville American Legion at a late date to be announced.
