John Charles Moore, age 86 of Ransomville, died Monday November 16, 2015 in Eastern Niagara Hospital Lockport. John was born October 1, 1929 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Arthur G. and Helen B. (Colver) Moore. He was a 1947 graduate of the Lewiston Union School and an U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, serving from 1951 to his honorable discharge in 1953. On September 25, 1954 he married Louise S. (Haefele) Moore and they moved into their home that John built in the Town of Wilson in 1959. John was a Millwright employed by the GM Engine Plant in Tonawanda for 13 years retiring in 1989. Previous to that had worked out of the Carpenters Union Local in Buffalo. John was a Beekeeper for many years at his home in Ransomville. He was a member of the Ransomville Masonic Lodge # 551 F&AM for over 50 years and was also a 32nd Degree Mason. John was avid outdoorsman, enjoying many years of boating. He also enjoyed history, genealogy, and making model airplanes. In his later years he became a Buddhist. His wife Louise, predeceased him in 2012. He is survived by a daughter, Diane H. (late Roger) Holycross of Ransomville; a son, David (Laura Westadt) Moore of Lewiston; his grandchildren, Lindsey C., Sarah E., and Brett A. Moore; and a great grandchild, Piper Moore. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 20, at 7:00 PM in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville. Burial will be on Saturday, November 21, at 10:00 AM in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd. Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to "Spay the Strays" c/o Gerber Small Animal Hospital, 3316 Military Rd, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
