John C. “Jack” Grandin, age 66 of Wilson, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday July 29, 2017. Jack was born February 27, 1951in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late John V. and Marion (Auld) Grandin. He was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School and has lived in Wilson the past 21 years. Jack was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam, serving as a Seaman on the USS Newport News from 1971 to 1973. He was the recipient of the national Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a Production Worker, employed by I.I. EMK in Amherst, NY and previous to that he was employed the St. Albin section of Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls. Jack was an avid reader and amateur military historian. He also loved fishing, hunting and camping. He is survived by two brothers, Colin (Christine) Grandin of Ransomville and David (Robin) Grandin of Silver Creek, NY. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville.
